What is this class about?
It’s a class that trains you how to set up a
successful fashion business from scratch.
It needs more than creative gifted minds to run a
successful fashion business. You need basic
management skills and a basic understanding of
marketing and merchandising.
At the very least you need to know:
what you are selling,
who you are selling for,
where you are selling,
how you are going to sell it,
what your selling points are to get your customers
to choose yours product over your competitors,
And, most importantly, where will you get
investment from.
I learn from what I am doing - ever since I first started my own fashion boutique. Building my capital from passion and hard work; I didn’t have a day off for 5 years. When you run a business on your own you have to be at every position of your business: selling, accounting, merchandising etc.
I had lots of different ideas and comments from clients and even from myself. The secret to my success was to listen but filter, taking onboard hose ideas that matched my vision. This helped to make sure every collection was suited to my clients’ styles and desires but also reflect my
brand and style.

following: my clientele. They speak up for me
and they protect me and my brand.
I have over 10 years of experience in the fashion industry. This includes design, production, business management and running my own fashion label and boutique –
Chitra’s Closet, in Melbourne Australia.
I have a strong background in advertising and PR with over 12 years of experience, including a comprehensive understanding of how a successful independent business can be built from scratch.
I have a unique combination of fashion and advertising skills and experiences that facilitate the running of my own fashion business. I have a strong commitment and passion for fashion which has driven me to share experiences with up and coming talented designers who are eager to enter
the industry.
